Q: Why is this true?

All questions of “why” lead back to a cause. And if we pursue far enough, “why” questions will always lead back to the First Cause, God Himself. “And [Christ] is before all things and by Him all things consist.” (Colossians 1:17) Answering “why” questions helps students to see the ways in which every part of creation—including the subject we are currently teaching—“declares the glory of God.”

Most textbooks avoid “why” questions altogether, focusing on “how” questions. But answering “why” questions is one of the most important things we can do for students both academically and spiritually.
